Lijiang Old Town (UNESCO)

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Blue Moon Valley
β β RecommendedA series of turquoise lakes fed by glacial meltwater at the base of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The water color is almost unreal β vivid blue-green against the white peaks. Included in the mountain entry ticket.
Black Dragon Pool Park
β β RecommendedThe classic Lijiang photo spot β a pool with the Snow Mountain reflected in the water, framed by a traditional bridge and pavilion. Free entry. Go early morning for the clearest reflections before the wind picks up.

Naxi Grilled Fish
Whole river fish marinated in Naxi spices and grilled over charcoal β fragrant, crispy-skinned, and served with local herbs. A specialty you won't find outside Yunnan.

Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles (Guoqiao Mixian)
Yunnan's most famous dish β a bowl of boiling broth arrives separately from raw ingredients (meat, vegetables, egg). You cook them yourself at the table by dipping them into the hot broth. A ritual meal.

Yak Meat Hot Pot
Rich, gamey yak meat simmered in a spicy or mushroom broth. Found in restaurants around Old Town β perfect after a cold day on the mountain. The yak meat is leaner and more flavorful than beef.

π Getting Around
To Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: Bus #101 from Lijiang Bus Station (Β₯15, 1 hour) or DiDi (Β₯80β100). Inside the park, free shuttle buses connect the visitor center, cable car stations, and Blue Moon Valley.
Old Town: No cars allowed inside β itβs all walking. Wear comfortable shoes on the cobblestones. The town is compact but hilly.
To/from airport: Airport shuttle bus (Β₯25, 45 min) or DiDi (Β₯100). The airport is 30 km from town.
Lijiang sits at 2,400m altitude. Take it easy on your first day β drink water, avoid alcohol, and donβt rush. If heading to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (4,506m), buy an oxygen canister (Β₯30β50) at the entrance just in case.

Book the Glacier cable car at 20:00 sharp
Tickets for the next day release at 8 PM on the 'δΈ½ζ±ζ ζΈΈιε’' WeChat account. They sell out in minutes β have your passport info ready before the clock strikes 8.
Stay in Shuhe, not Old Town
Shuhe Ancient Town is 6 km from Lijiang Old Town β same Naxi architecture and canals but quieter, cheaper, and more authentic. A DiDi ride to Old Town costs Β₯15.
Visit Old Town at 7 AM
Before the tour groups arrive, the alleys are empty, the canals are still, and the morning light on the wooden buildings is magical. By 10 AM it's a completely different (and much more crowded) experience.
Consider a day trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge
One of the world's deepest gorges β a 2-hour drive from Lijiang. The upper trail is a moderate hike with dramatic views. Serious hikers can do the 2-day high trail. Book through your hotel or Trip.com.
